Richard II is clearly the big star of this year's ficathon, which makes me very, very happy, especially since the lack of Richard II fic in the world was a major impetus for starting this ficathon in the first place.

Also, one of these days I am totally going to do an "All the Histories Fic on the Web" index. Just because.

Thank you very much for running this ficathon--it was once again a lovely experience!

As I said elsewhere, thanks to the pinch hitters for doing such a great job when a couple of people bailed (failed!). Pinch hitters FTW!

As a pinch-hitter, I have the deepest respect for the person who couldn't fulfill the request for which I pinch-hit. There are often legitimate extenuating circumstances that prevent a writer from completing a work on deadline, and I hope that we can treat these writers with the respect that they deserve.

I hear you; as someone who has run a ficathon myself, I do have to say I've heard every excuse under the sun, both entirely valid and entirely self-serving, so I tend to assume the worst. Here's the thing. Assuming there's a valid reason for forfeiting, a writer's responsibility is to let the ficathon mod know in a timely fashion, so the pinch hits can be written and posted along with the others.
Clearly this did not happen in the case of the story being written, or not-written, for me. As someone who was told my story was coming...and coming...and coming, I do think whoever had the assignment originally could have handled the situation with more candor and speed about not being able to deliver. If they didn't do so, then they did not act appropriately. Thus, Fail.

That being said, this in no way is a reflection on my wonderful pinch-hit story, even though the fact it arrived late clued me to the fact it was a pinch hit. This tells me good things about [info]lareinenoire, who wrote such an elegant story on short notice, and not-so-good things about the defaulter. The story, and getting to write Richard II, were the best parts of this experience.

I don't mean to demean your experience, or your frustration with the delay for your fic--my own also came in late, and I do understand that it may feel unpleasant. I have also run a ficathon; I know what it's like to receive explanations for delayed or absent fics, and I do understand that it's frustrating to be unclear on the status of missing fics. I'm not asking that you feel differently, or that you alter your standards; I'm asking that, in the ficathon's spirit of giving, you deal gently with defaulters.

You are a kinder, gentler person than I!

As the moderator, I agree with this comment. I would prefer this sort of discussion be kept out of the community (one can say what one likes on one's own journal).

RICHARD IS TOTALLY THE PRETTIEST.

And I think I did -- it would have been posted back in January, I think.

Also, don't worry about defaulting. You gave notice and everything; don't feel bad about it. :)

THAT IS THE REACTION YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE TO RICHARD II

BECAUSE HE IS, IN FACT, THE PRETTIEST

Yay ficathon! Thank you for running it again! (And being incredibly nice to people who defaulted. Previously. Those dorks.)

(I have one Histories-quote icon and I am going to continue using it.)

I KNEW IT WAS YOU. I didn't dare guess JUST IN CASE there was a tiny chance I could be wrong, but DEEP DOWN I KNEW. Now I am going to go and reply to your reply to my feedback!
